About Chudleigh Business Guild
The Chudleigh Business Guild was formed in March 2006 in order to promote and improve the trading interests of it’s members and of the town and district itself.
To date, the membership numbers over 93, representing more than 50% of the businesses in the area.
The Guild is responsible for publishing the well received Trade Directory during 2007.
The Guild has a good working relationship with the local town Council and is currently exploring many issues with them including the provision of a town map, the late night Christmas opening, loss of banking in the town, CCTV installation, etc.
Last year, through the generosity of Guild members, over £1,300 was raised towards the Christmas Lights and a committee was set up to work together with the town council to promote the successful late night shopping event. This year a new working party has been formed and is currently discussing and planning a much improved event in conjunction with the town council, and even more money is being raised in order to add to the Christmas decorative lights adorning the town.
Future plans include the publishing of an improved and more professional trade directory, combining it with a town guide and including a street plan, town history, lists of clubs and societies, bus timetables, local information, etc.
One of our major projects for this year has been the publishing of this, our own dedicated website, which has been designed and most generously sponsored by Webselect, one of the country’s most professional website designers based here in the heart of Chudleigh. Their client base includes such names as Coca-Cola, The National Health Service, Police Authorities, local and regional government, plus over 200 companies in Europe.
Guild meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis, discussing and debating many issues. Past speakers have included a representative from the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses), Local Community Wardens, Neighbourhood Watch, Chudleigh History Group, First Aid Training, Quality Assurance & Management businesses, and more recently a very entertaining presentation & talk by the R.N.L.I.
